The beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountain's.
I am going to Canada in 3 weeks time and although this time I will not be going to see the Rockie Mountains I thought you might like to see some of the photos I took the last time I was there. Everywhere you look there is a photo oppertunity, stunningly beautiful. I went in July and the week before I got there it had been snowing very hard, and the mountains were covered in snow. But while in Banff the temperature soared to 90 and all the snow started to melt causing the river to run like a rapid in Banff. Lucky enough there was no damage done.

This is Banff, a few more photos later.

I stayed with my friend Joan who lives in Victoria on Vancouver island. We got the ferry from the island then we started our Journey in Vancouver and decided to visit Grouse Mountain which is the high which is on the left of this photo

This is a view of Vancouver looking down from Grouse Mountain.. We stayed overnight in Vancouver and left the following morning for out journey to Banff where we stayed for 7 days. It took us 2 full days to get there from Vancouver. I am glad I wasn't driving.

You cannot go to far before you start to see these enormous trucks

That evening we stayed in a lovely B&B in Revelstoke. It is going to be one of the premium sking resorts in Canada. such a pretty town. To get here from Vancouver took us 8 hours, Mountains all the way and the distances are mind blowing.

This beautiful lake was near Revelstoke. The following day we had an early start for our journey to Banff.

We are getting nearer to Banff.

At last we are there, It took narly 9 hours. Have to find the B&B . We were so tired. (They are a good place to stay if you ever decide to go to see the Canadian Rockies).

After a good nights sleep, we explored Banff and met some charming children who with their parents were dancing in national costume.

We saw some typical Canadian houses

One of the days we were there took the Cable Car to the top of one of the mountains and had lunch in a revolving resturant. This is the view of Banff from the top

Went to the local station to see the Rocky Mountainare come in. These travel right across Canada, starting in Toronto and ending in Vancouver. But it would cost you an arm and a leg to do this trip.

Another day we went to see the beautiful and famous Lake Louise

Another time we went to Moraine Lake. There was lots of driftwood there. There were still couple of little icebergs on the Lake

Then it was bye to Banff and back on the road.

Farewell to The Rocky mountains and farewell to this lonley goat whu was started to shed his wool. Poor thing, he did look sorry for himself.
That was a fabulous trip. Hope our next one will be as good as I will only be in Canada for 5 days before we go on another 18 day cruise. We only see one an other every 2 yrs, so looking forward to seeing Joan. I hope you enjoyed seeing these Beautiful Rocky Mountains with me. Pam

Hi Pam! Reading and viewing a blog about the scenery we see regularly from the standpoint of an international tourist was sort of neat. We drive through Banff National Park every time we visit our families on the Prairies. Haven't been to Lake Louise for years, though--the park fees are too high for us ordinary mortals who are just passing through. When we retire, though, we're going to buy an Annual Pass and get to as many national parks as possible.
I hope you have a wonderful trip. Wouldn't it be hilarious if we ended up Victoria at the same time, more or less, and posted some of the same pictures? We generally go down about once a year..
My favourite shot is the driftwood at Moraine Lake. Thanks for sharing your memories of the Canadian Rockies.

Great blog Pam. You beat me to it. I have exactly the same shots taken in 2007 and 2009. Been twice now and take three weeks also, can't wait to go back. Looks like you took the same roads as us. Well done, put some more on if you have time.
Dave.

A case of "Been there, done that" Pam. Your photos have given me a vivid reminder of two holidays in that area, before I had a Fuji camera. Many thanks, and Banff is such a lovely place, apart from the -30C in the winter! Take the walk down to the Bow River Falls, Pam - it's wonderful.
Best regards, Steve

Pam, great, really enjoyable blog once again. Like Jim I have only been to Ontario but hope to get to the west one day - would love to travel on the Rocky Mountaineer but might need a lottery win first.
Have a great holiday and, like everyone else, will look forward to seeing your blog on your return. Regards, Celia

Awesome mountain scenes. I did like the train and the "Kenworth haulin' Logs" as in the song.

I love this
It's soooo beautiful, a place i would love to visit. I have been to Toronto, and surrounding areas, also went to Yellowstone national park, some years ago, didn't have a digital camera at the time only film, but i really enjoy taking out those albums from my 3 month tour i did, every now and again. Sometimes albums are way better
Thanks for sharing this and can't wait too see your new photo's from your trip when you get back

WOW what stunning scenery and views. Well worth all the traveling you did Pam i,m sure, and your fantastic photos have shown this beautifuly if not exceptionally. This looks an amazing place and to think those who live there take this all in thier stride in seeing these sights day after day. You have really taken some terrific shots Pam and once again i can only thank you for bringing all this to our homes. A big like from me. Paul.
PS- the only disappointing thing abouit this blog is the low comment and like totals. It deserves a MUCH GREATER amount of credit.
(My photos may not be the best but they represent a part of my life to share with those who care to look)
