Rain + Window + Camera = ART

The shot above is of the street outside - through the raindrops. I love the blue sky at night with this long exposure.

Whilst watching the film "What's Love Got To Do With It" (Story about Tina Turner) on telly the other night, it really started to rain heavily outside.  Towards the end of the film the song "Steamy Windows" was playing, and as I could hear the rain outside beating against my window.  Ah ha! I thought, that's given me an idea - so out came the camera and tripod. I wasn't too worried about getting pin-sharp photos, I just wanted to capture the mood.  Off with the lights, off with the telly, just the sound of the rain.   These are the results.

Just to start off.  For the first shot, I tried to focus on the glass - not easy when the autofocus wants to see through it!

Focus on Window

Next, I wanted to capture the outside light.  Maximum zoom on my S1600.  By the way, I have not added any extras in these shots, only messed with Brightness/Contrast & Vibrance.

Love the blue of the night sky with this long exposure.  Especially beautiful when viewed full screen.  (Is this possible on the Finepix site? I don't know if it is.)

Lovely pastel shades with a streak on my window. (I know I should have cleaned my windows - but it's more fun taking pictures!)

Now my favourite one of the night

And now some light painting with a hand held shot trying to undo the image stabilization that Fuji has worked so hard on.

And the final shot with a distort filter + brightness/Contrast & Vibrance

I hope you enjoyed looking at these abstract shots.  I had fun making them, and a change from all the wildlife/nature shots (not that there is anything wrong with that) but I suppose these are nature - in a way.  I only wish you could view them full screen.

Bye for now

Alan
