Hi group, I have a S9600 but no camera bag, can anyone reccomend one that will accomodate camera, spare batteries, memory cards, nothing to big, just need it for going on walks, keeping camera in good condition. etc

For christmas my husband bought me 2 zoom lenses, 1 is a 2x zoom the other a 4x. the 4x zoom has a grid pattern on the surface the site where he bought it says they work with the macro setting.
My question is what is the grid surface for as it appears in all of my shots and i dont have a clue how to either use it or loose it from the image.
Has anybody had any experiance with cokin filters I want to build up a colection and would appreciate advice as to which ones to get and how best to use them

I have just been given a Fujifilm Finepix S1500, and would like some advice on how to capture some great photos please.
I am very fond of the photos that have a blurred background and wonder if anyone has any advice on what is the best setting to use for these results?
Do people owning this camera tend to use the auto settings or manual mostly?
I have recently been looking at camera bags with a view to getting a new one. All start off with a buttoned/velcroed/buckled flap over the top but then some have a second zipped cover over the camera etc, some a lift-up rigid flap and some just give straight entry into the bag. Any thoughts from more experienced bag users on which approach is best. or doesn't it matter?

I learnt quite a bit from some of the comments on some of my photos and I was wondering if we should/could have an advice board/thread?
My idea would be we could add a photo to our gallery that we would like advice on then post its link in the thread for everyone to look at and give their views comments on or even download it and crop it etc and repost it to the thread as an example? I did think about posting on the thread but would that cause problems?
After I have taken a picture how can I get the screen to show the shutter speed and aperture used. I have a S1500. Thanks for any suggestions.
I am looking for a compact lightweight but stable tripod to take with me on a trip to the Cairngorms this Easter. Could anybody advice me of a reasonably priced tripod or the best place to find one? My camera is a S9600
