I really like the dynamics of the performer and great timing, I'm just not sure about the BG it just doesn't seem to fit - maybe big crashing waves would pull the shot together more.

Nick may have been clowning around...but you certainly were not. A real "Thriller" of a picture. Very deep dark and mysterious, and very much lives up to the title in every way. Very well done. Has a real chance, in my book, up with the best of the best. BOL Basil

A superb shot and has all the elements to come out on top. The composition is perfect giving great isolation to the figure. I do think this is a potential winner. Very well done

A worthy winner for the first competition. Super composition and beautiful lighting and exposure. Well done and I hope to see more of your work. Just ignore the pointless negative comments, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's just as well that some people keep their eyes open when they are beholding!

Thanks for all of the kind genuine comments though! Unfortunately as I found out last time, sour grapes from people is part of the package. At least nobody accused me of using a Canon (pah ftttf) this time!

I am quite sure that this image is edited in Photoshop or any other image editing software. If you all look the image care fully you can easily understand the light n shade of the person and the sea is not same. I think picture of the person cutted from different image and just paste it into the sea image. That’s why the detail of the image is not showing. Generally when ever you will post a original image, then automatically the details of that image, like camera model, time, aperture and so on will be visible automatically.
I just want to know is it a photography competition or Image editing competition. Through software anyone can make a picture beautiful. I am a graphic designer so it’s not new to me. I know very well how one can edit a picture like this.
I don't think this kind of image should be granted for this competition. If you have any kind of doubt then all you can ask any Graphic designer, I am sure he/she can unearth the truth in front of you.

Such a worthy winner - sorry I missed this one in the comp, a truly outstanding image and well deserving of first place - well done.
Kiss slowly, forgive quickly.

Bluerain as I have previously stated this image was NOT composited in photoshop although some tweeking was done to lighting and the sky.
I know, I held the flash head ..it was aimed directly at Nick(slighlty from the side) giving the 'forced flash' effect to his body(Which incidently was painted white for an earlier'mime' shoot I did with him) this is possibly why the skin tone is confusing you.
Should you wish I am sure Noel can send you a scaled down version of the original image for you to judge for yourself

Bluerain,
I would just like to add to Harpy's comment (one of which I'm not going to repeat) and say that I WAS a graphic designer. I was one for 2 years, then a graphic design teacher for 5 1/2. Yes the image was edited in PS (CS4 Extended if you must know), but that was just to tweak the lighting and overall tone. Oh yes, I burned the clouds in a little. Nothing that couldn't be done easily in a darklroom (incidentally - I learned to develop my own film and process images and did so for many years). Oh, and the tones probably don;t match the sea as he was painted white!
