Good shot left you a comment on the thread you started about your concerns on this. i was goona start a petition for you to change this for a self portrait but deciced agaist it as this is a new site i dont think all Fujians are ready for a mug shot of you just yet maybe next month what you think lol

Good clarity and nicely angled. Stick with it.
The other one you mention on the forum is different and you shouldn't concern yourself with any other images as others have said it is difficult to find a totally original idea. I hope the person who pointed it out to you just did so in case you would be interested to see the other one, I have seen pics win in the past where there were similar shots entered that got nowhere even though they were also taken well. It is a lottery.
Yours is clean, simple and not over egged. (I like the other entry too by the way)
I don't dislike the star system on the whole and I think this deserves 4 stars because it is a great shot. The stars can be misused and 5 stars are often given in the hope of getting 5 in return. I am not sure what benefit giving two stars is to a well taken photo. Perhaps harryalot could give constructive criticism another time.

Well composed shot Brian. Love the ange and detail. Nice use of light and shadows. Mono really suits this. Must mbe viewed larger. Now I wish I had been good at science at school but it was one of my worst subjects whereas my youngest sister went to Dundee uni and did Zoology & Microbiology and now works in research and stem cells and travels all over the world.
