Oia, Santorini in Greece occupies the best part of the island in the North West.
Even the typical houses are dug in the volcanic lava and are mainly two storey high built with a traditional style. Oia provides picture postcard photo opportunities with beautiful panoramic views of the Santorini Caldera. I took this photo on the 14/9/10 when we visited Santorini.

The blue and white of the church against those (heavenly!) shades of blue that are conveyed in the sea and sky make for a lovely photo. Wishing you the very best of luck with it in this month's Comp.

Dave (Old man in faraway places) The wooden frame on the left is an artists studio shop selling paintings and can be seen pegged to dry for sale. I stood on the shop step to obtain this vantage view above the heads of loads of tourists to capture the scene. I took loads of photos of just the blue domed church but in comparison lacked something which I thought this image gave and typified the traditional look of Santorini. This is a stunning photo Alison of a stunning place. The colours are amazing. i to have been there and captured a very similar scene, my colours are not as good as yours though.
