This is a distant view of the monument erected to commemorate the Six Bells Mining Disaster. The name of the steel miner is 'Guardian of the Valleys'.  It was designed by Sebastian Boyesen and has the names of every miner that died, written on its base.

On 28th June 1960 the explosion ripped through the mine, killing 45 men and injuring many others.  Fathers and their sons, died in the explosion that morning.

The monument stands on the site of the pit.  I wanted to show how the valley is beautiful again.  How life turns in circles and nature makes all well....eventually.

Beautifully captured landscape, like the composition of lines through the image; bit like a fan, and the splash of colours captured between the greens.....assume the rain has bought on the fresh green growth..............vbol

Beautiful photo, I love the way the lines lead your eye across it and give it much depth.
