Z800 panorama exposure adjustment
Submitted by robsamui on Tue, 13/03/2012 - 18:32
Hi all.
I find the panorama facility on my Z800 to be quite superb - except for interiors.
It's excellent for an evenly-lit scene in daylight. But available light shots need exposure compensation of some sort. Is this possible?
The initial viewfinder image is excellent - then as soon as I hit the GO button the scene darkens down so much as to be unusable. How can I adjust this - if at all?
Thanks in anticipation,
Rob

hello and welcome.
Part of the answer may be contained in your own comments on shooting an evenly lit scene.
I don't know your camera or how you use it as far as setting exposure goes, but for any panorama each frame should have the same exposure in every regard. If you shoot in full auto mode an evenly lit scene outdoors should work as there is less variation but indoors there may be areas of dark and light such as windows or lights which alter the exposure in each frame used.
again, not knowing the conditions it is difficult to advise except to say that correct exposure for each subject is essential. For interiors I would suggest you determine the exposure for an average part of the scene and set this manually on the camera before taking the set of images This will ensure that all the tones fall into place as the scene demands.
Kind regards,
Chas.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
The Z800 uses a video mode for the panorama so exposure variations would be adjusted automatically, I think.
Changing exposure setting via the manual setting has no effect.
I don't think you're familiar with the Z800, are you?

Hi
Thanks for that.
You are right I don't know much about bridge cameras because I can not use one in any meaningful way. However It answers another question that I had wondered about.
I do know a little of how photography works and if the exposure for each section is controlled automatically there could be variations in image density across the final image unless the light is even as you first mentioned.
Kind regards,
Chas.
