Fuji Spain Refuses to Fix defective X100
Hi I bought an X100 less than a year ago from abroad because here in Spain it took forever to relase. Now it has the SAB and Fuji spain wont fix it because it wasnt purchased localy. Now have a 900€ camera that would cost another 600€+ to repair from a well known issue.
Shouldn't Fuji back their products regardless of where they were bought? Specially considering its a premium product. With this kind of support I am hessitant to recomend any Fuji products much less purchase any more of them. I was looking at the X-pro but now Im thinking Nikon is the way to go for a company that stands behind its products. I have even tried sending various messages to the head branch and with serial numbers and these havent even been aknowledged.

That's not good at all. Keep at them, I think the warranty should be worldwide and therefore fixed by Fuji wherever you happen to be if it is still under warranty.
Hope you get the matter sorted. I had the same problem with my X100, but I didn't have the overseas purchase issue. Camera was sorted, cleaned and firmware updated and returned in a week. My experience with Fuji has always been good, so I hope you resolve this.

I myself got a HS20 in Japan, it clearly states on the box, Warranty only valid in Japan, but as it was approx $200 cheaper than Australia at the time i took the risk (touch wood, no probs so far) also i think the credit card we purchased it on will give some help if it fails, If you purchased it on a card have you checked with the card company, another option is email Fuji in Japan, they may be able to help you, from experience Japanese companies will often contact the local division and possibly get things rolling, worth a try.
Cheers Kim.

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

No manufacturer will honour a warranty that's not from a product used outside the country where it is purchased .
The correct procedure is to contact the Fuji service department of the country it was purchased in .
They should honour the warranty but postage and packing will be up to the sender.
Equipment is not always the same on the same models such as electrical interference requirements which may mean internal differences .
E-mail the Fuji service department of the country you purchased it from .

All credit to Fuji for sorting this out - and to Fred for getting involved. It's always good to hear about good service from a company instead of just complaints and gripes.
