FinePix S8000fd Poor Image Quality
Hello Experts,
I am hoping that you can help with a problem I am having....
I have owned a FinePix S8000fd for nearly 4 years now. I am not a photography buff, I tend to use the camera in 'fire and forget' (auto) mode. Having said that the camera has served me well over the years and produced some lovely images.
It all went wrong last weekend! I went to Paris to watch the end of the Tour De France. The camera would take a few good photos and would then produce progressively more distorted images. I have posted some examples in my gallery. The photos were all taken within a few seconds of each other.
The camera has not been dropped or abused in any other way that I am aware of and the ambient temperature, humidity etc at the time of shooting were not out of the ordinary.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted!
Thanks in advance
Trevor

Hello and as you seem just to have joined us, welcome.
I don't know the answer to your question directly. The exposure data seems to be in line with what would be expected.
The only suggestion is to do with the memory card which may be the cause especially if it is as old as the camera. Have you tried another card?
This current thread may help.

Hello Chas,
Thank you for taking the time to post a comment.
My SD Cards are, in general, older than the camera - although I do format them every time I insert them into the camera - so hopefully that would flag up any problems.
The distorted images were shown in the viewfinder when taking the photos - so I suspect the problem lays in the camera rather than the card.
I did a setup/reset and used the camera today. It seems to be behaving itself.....
There's only one thing worse than non working equipment - equipment with an intermittant fault!
Thank you again & best wishes
Trevor
