Fujifilm FinePix AX280 - Stuck in on/off Loop
Submitted by sunnyboi_za on Mon, 30/07/2012 - 20:13
Hi
I have a Fujifilm FinePix AX280 and it was working fine until now.
I noticed that the lens cover was not closed as it normally would when it switches off.
So I switched it on and it says "Turn off the camera and turn on the camera."
But its stuck in a loop now, because everytime I switch it on, it says displays the same message as above.
I have replaced the batteries and taken out the memory card as well as done a reset to it.
The lens cover is still open and no longer closes.
If anyone can help me to "hard reset" it or has had a similiar problem and was able to fix it, please reply.
Thanks.

I have a similar sort of problem with an AX250. My lens is stuck in th out position, I have replaced the batteries, but the whole camera is frozen and is not responding at all. What is the method of 'resetting' or even 'hard resetting'?

This message appears when the lens gets jammed. You could try turning it on and then, when you turn it off applying a little gentle pressure to see if you can help push the lens back in as the camera shuts down. If the camera is still under warranty, you could also look at getting a repair done.

I have a photographic memory. Unfortunately I forgot to remove the lens cap!

I submitted a similar post as my AX250 had a similar problem. I have fixed it by exchanging the Alkaline batteries for some more powerful NiMH ones. The user manual does hint that the Alkaline batteries, that were supplied by Fuji will not produce enough power if recharged a few times. Well I have only had the camera a reasonably short time and can only have recharged the Alkaline batteries 5 or 6 times, which begs the question why they supply them at point of sale. Anyway my camera is back up and running just by using NiMH in place of their Alkalaine ones. I hope it works for you.
