I have been wanting additional light when taking videos indoors with my HS20 XER. I have purchased a light that clips to the hotshoe on my camera that gives great results. I have used it outdoors at night at moderate distances. Also used it for additional light when shooting stills indoors instead of flash. The unit also has a tripod mount for off camera lighting. It's reasonably priced and is avaialable on Amazon. Since I am in Bangkok I was able to purchase it locally as Amazon does not ship here. It is a Z96 made by F&V. - Here are some of the specs below

Hi thereSorry for such basic questions but I really have only ever used a camera to literally "point & shoot".I take most of my pictures at tennis matches and want to know if there is a way to take a photo of a player (whilst static) and have the background blurry so only he is in focus?Another setting I am not sure about is creating a shot with an object in colour and the rest of the picture in B&W.Any help with these shots will be gratefully appreciated.ThanksClare

Hi,I used to have a synchro flash setting on an older camera that allowed me to do a night shot with the foreground lit by the flash. Can someone please tell me if this is possible on the HS10. Many thanks.Loz

Hi,I have a HS10 bridge camera. I would like to take some pictures of my baby daughter with narrow depth of field. I have tried aperture priority mode as I don't know enough to set it all myself. I then dial a small number for the aperture setting. The images have come out blue'ish and the depth of field isn't narrow. Please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. Many thanksLoz

Hi, everyone. So over the past few days, I've been experimenting with both depth of field and night photography. Needless to say, the former turned out well, but the latter not so much. The result was this: http://www.myfinepix.ca/gallery/589352/499081At first, I tried it in manual. No matter what settings I used, even with max ISO (3200) and whatnot, it didn't seem to help. I had to just use Auto mode and use the focus myself (to intentially blur the "subject" to experiment with DoF), and the above was the result. Still lots of noise, but far better than what I had before.

well sort of.If you want to transfer or save the shots to your PC or if you want to control the shot from the PC then I'm afraid the answer is no. BUT...if you just want something bigger to view your shots on then try this with your HDMI TV.Here's my tabletop ready for a product shoot. All you're interested in is the product, the camera and the TV.(*The product will magically change during this post)

HiI've recently become the proud owner of a hs20exr and could do with a little help figuring it out!! This has probably been asked a million times before but here goes.......I am wanting to take pictures of waterfalls with the "feathery" look that so many of you seem to have captured so well and was wondering what settings you would choose in Manual mode? or Are there any of the automatic settings suitable? All help will be greatly appreciated, this is probably the first of many questions to come!!Paul

I went out yesterday early morning and took this shot I noticed that when I went to print the photograph A4 size it resulted in a very  grainy or noisey photograph.Question is ;Settings S1/50, ISO100,F5, What setting would the experts have set the camera  to produce a reduction in noise so that when trying to print I would achieve a better result?I have not had ths problem before ?Is it the Camera or just me?

Hi All,I just got an HS30 and am learning to use it. The guy in the camera store showed me ProFocus mode which blurs the backgroundI behind the subject...it's a good feature, but the blur level isn't as high as I'd like. The guy in the camera store did mention you could change the Apeture to increase the blur level. When in ProFocus mode, I cannot seem to change it. I can change softness etc but not the Aperture.Has anyone had experience with doing this?

Hi Guys,I tested out my camera today at the local airport, the pictures left a lot to be desired, now I'm a complete novice in terms of aviation photography but try as I might in a nunber of different settings I could not get a crisp clear shot.I used my old 8MP Sony DSC H9 camera a number of times at the same location and in the same conditions, the photos from my old Sony are of much better quality than the HS30EXR.What am I doing wrong and can anyone make any suggestions??Thanks in advance.

I know some of you like the long exposure light painting technique so I thought you might like this article. My son and his friend recently interviewed the drummer of Def Leppard for his online music magazine Hit The Floor. The interview covered his new light painting exhibition. Take a look HERE.
