North Wales Meet - 16th October
Earlier in the year I put forward an idea to have a meet in North Wales, probably in August. I'm going to try and firm that up now, if there's enough interest.
I'm suggesting a visit to Caernarfon and the castle on the 6th or 7th of August. It would just be for the day and possibly an early evening meal
Of course if anyone would like to suggest an alternative location/date it can be considered.
Mike
Update 13 AUG: The date for this has been confirmed as 16th October. My suggested program is as follows. Meet at Menai Bridge (10:00 am) on Anglesey and spend some time photographing both bridges. After lunch move onto Caernarfon (8 miles away) where there are photo opportunites with the castle, around the town and the harbour area. The castle is open if anyone wants to visit (there is an entrance fee). As we're really into winter we will not have a lot of daylight time to play with but hopefully we can get some night photography around the castle. Wherever we go I'll try and do some HDR work and explain the process if anyone is interested. Finally, have an evening meal together. If the weather is inclement I suggest visiting Pili Palas, which amongst other things is a butterfly reserve.
Now of course you don't have to stick to the suggested program, if you want to go off and do your own thing no one is going to object....
Mike

Thanks Nigel, I'll look into that tomorrow.
Glynis. Don't take any notice of this 'light and settings' nonsense. They only use them because they don't know how to use 'auto'!
I could do with some response to my 'Photolightning' post, please.
Jan.

I spent a lot of yesterday looking for and at multivarious tripods. The Asda website told me that they had very little in stock, Tesco similar. Eventually, I went for one at Argos. The Camlink TP-2500. It cost £29.99p and came with a 'free' carrying case. Yippee! The cheaper ones that I looked at looked a little on the flimsy side. I'm a tripod expert already! I'm sure that those of you 'what' know about such things will kindly let me have your opinions about my new aquisition. Kind regards, Jan.

I also found that, Steve. I am more than a little wary about buying over the internet. I worry about money being 'lost' and not getting the goods that you ordered. My thinking is that, with Argos, If anything goes or is wrong, then I can get it sorted the same day and without any problems.
More imortantly, I am now reliant upon you and the proper photographers at the 'meet' to show me how it should be used. Good Lord! I've just noticed that there are not any instructions on how to get the wretched thing out of the box!!! Looking forward to the 'meet' more and more now.
Jan.

Waiting for the Saturday night prices to, hopefully, go a little cheaper so that I can stay over for the two nights. Much easier driving in the daylight. Jan.

Hi Glynis
No, I am sure you have that wrong!!! Ha ha. If folk can make it, I am sure they would. There are some members from North Wales and Anglesey who would have seen this post and if they WERE interested, I am sure they would have said so by now. I am not going to "Push" for attendance as I am sure your wouldn't. Some are shy, some are not interested at all. that is their right. All Iknow is, that by not attending, it is they who miss out.

Hi all. Might I add these thoughts, Steve and Glynis? Maybe some are put off by thinking that all of us are top photographers. If it will encourage a few more, let me say that I am by no means even a 'fair' photographer. I do not know how to use the aperture settings or any of the other intricate details of my S200EXR. I always use the EXR setting and or my newly bought macro lens. Point and shoot, I think the correct terminology is. So roll up people, come and have a 'giggle' at my efforts. Kind regards, Jan.

I would love to come Glynis. It's just a little too far for me and I don't want to stop over.
You'll have a great time no matter how many attend.
All Fuji meets are laid back, fun and not the least bit techy.
Monty.

Hiyah Monty....As a firm supporter of the Fuji meets, I understand it is quite a way for you and you cannot make em all, you will be missed though I can tell you. As for Jan's comment, I am sure that noone feels that way, we get by with our entries into the galleries, the main point of the meets is to form further freindship and have a face to face chat about ourselves and our photography. We always end up having a giggle and learn at lot about our gear too. Well that is the way I see them anyway. I look forward to them, I have been on 4 now and loved em all. Next year, we already have 3 in the Diary, bring it on I say.
Cheers.
