Facebook is fine as you control who's in and who's out. I keep in touch with my brothers and sister, school mates and a selected band of "Friends". I quite like the way you can see what's going on, it's very handy with the Llandudno Bowling League too and the RSPB at Conwy I could go on but you know me, I won't!!! Lol

I don't have a love/hate relationship with Facebook - I just hate it and after the problems of the last year the words freeze and hell come to mind.

An interesting thought on the uses of Facebook. I have been told by a reliable source that now when you apply for a job it is quite common for the personnel department to check out the job applicant's facebook page. Those that have the wrong sort of 'illustrious career' are not considered.

I would never consider Facebook. Even on a site as simple as this , its amazing how much info you can gather about other members...especially if you have a good memory. If you keep notes, and I know some do, the information gleaned can be staggering. And thats on a site where we don't ,publicly, share information.
Imagine what can happen with Facebook...................even if you limit the information you share.
Angie, you are right, employers do check Facebook.

if you control your settings no one can see you facebook personal info unless you give them permission. having said that facebook changes so often you can never be too sure if your personal settings have changed. hope mine is still set too private

Well I've just finished ( nearly!) a facebook page and I'm baffled how to add a like button to my page. It seems there is no advice or instructions in plain and simple English on how to accomplish this relatively simple ( or so I thought) task without having a degree in computer programming. Also why havent I got a "search box" on top of my Facebook page. This was not an individual personal page but a buisness page, again there never seems a suitable category to list it under.

I have a nephew who recently joined the Police Force ...he was recounting some of the "goings on" during one of his Training Courses, one of which was a Training Session dealing with their individual responsibility for avoiding situations which could be harmful to their personal security or leave them open to blackmail....
...apparently the session started with no preamble but went straight into a slideshow showing various numpties doing all sorts of ridiculous things and generally making total prats of themselves......as it went on they all gradually realised it was themselves.....and as the Instructor said at the end "So you thought you had made all that private - Well it ain't ! "
The policy...certainly in this area appears to be Do Not Use Social Networking Sites or you will find yourself in sticky situations
ps. Anybody want to buy a video of 'The Secret New Policeconstables Balls ! '

I have to confess I'm a Facebook fan - but it is important to check your personal settings and keep everything 'locked down' to friends only. :)
