I promise hand-on-heart, no jiggery-pokery, it's as it came off of the camera.
I am rather baffled!

I don't blame you for thinking it's been shopped but I am an honest person and I can promise that it is as it came off of the camera (bar cropping and levels adjustment). I am sure there is a logical explanation but I just can't think of one right now! I used a reflective foil tray to throw some light onto the water, all I can come up with is that it's reflected from that and just happens to be face shaped and rather spooky?
Thinking further...
My daughter was in the kitchen watching me take the photos, it doesn't look at all like her but I wonder if it's a distorted reflection of her in the drop? I think I'll go with that or I wont sleep tonight!

Debs it's more than likely reflections so sleep easy tonight. Although maybe you won't when you've had a look at the faces in the bark of this tree! Some on here will have seen this before but I thought it was relevant to your spooky thread! I didn't notice anything when I was taking the shot but when I uploaded my pics from that day I was freaked out for a while!

whoah freaky.
could it be a reflection or refraction of a nearby photograph or tv etc?

Alan, that's one fascinating tree, you can make out all sorts of faces/creatures.
I am still trying to persuade myself it's my daughters reflection I can just make out the shadow of her head and mine in the first picture (well I think it is anyway) and where the white light is I think must be from the flash, I guess it's possible that the drop came up high enough to have reflected her face although I'm not entirely convinced, she really doesn't look like a possessed pixie with glowing eyes!
List of things to take to bed tonight...milky drink, sleeping tablet, garlic, wooden stake, cross, holy water...

Don't bother with the milky drink Debs. Make it something stronger and plenty of it!

d c, no pictures or TV anywhere near it.
Oh blast. It can't be my daughter as wouldn't the reflection would be upside down? So there's an upside down pixie in my house? Edited to say, that was a daft thing for me to state as it would be upside down if behind the drop not infront *d'oh*...it's a shame they don't make rechargers for brain cells!

Alan M, yes, definately something stronger than milk needed I think!
I've put the (less cropped) original up on my gallery, I wouldn't have noticed it at all if I hadn't zoomed in, I wish I hadn't.

It's only reflections and light Debs. Don't worry about it.
Modern technology is letting us see things that have always been there.

I've decided it's a Gremlin and I've named him Gerald. This would account for a recent spate of electric devices doing odd things lately. the dishwasher kept fusing, microwave died, toaster caught fire, washing machine refuses to stay on the correct cycle...
...raises an eyebrow and looks perplexed. Do exorcisms work on Gremlins?

Our brains are made to recognise facial features. This is why we often see faces in patterns. Stare at a very busy wall paper and you can start to pick out facial features.
Nothing to worry about, just your brain trying to do it's job.

bluebottle, that made me laugh lots! I think 'brain trying to do its job' sums me up perfectly. Infact, I may have to adopt that as my new signature. Thank you, I needed a giggle even if it wasn't intended as such and I do feel a little less freaked out after your sensible explanation.
Edy F, shhhhh he might hear you!
I am sane, really. Honest I am.
