What the flippin' 'eck is this?

Taken this very morning, using the Raynox 250. It appears as taken with no artificial additives. The dark corners are the rim of the 250. Is it a spider, a beetle or, as I suspect the advance expeditionary force of an alien civilisation? Be afraid, be very afraid!
