Well done, difficult to just get the flower (weed) head in focus.
Cheers, Pete.

A small flower but so beautiful, I love the detail and delicate colours against the grey of the wall, very well captured

Brilliant macro Jill. Love the delicate colour and very delicate detail.
Loved your comment on John's - it was taken on the cycle path beside the east coast railway on his way to work. We both pass it regularly when going for the bus going up town. It's a patch of wild unkempt where all sorts of plants grow and both of us had a great choice to choose from

nice composition, stands out well against the grey background and I like how you've kept the detail in the petals - not easy with white subjects.

A tiny flower, beautifully captured, love the delicate colour, if it was a paint it would be called "a hint of lilac!".

And now that it's all over, may I add my comment? Yours was best because of the super detail in the petals of this tiny flower. Also because of your caption "Town wall" which best illustrated my definition of a weed.. 'flower in a wrong place'.
I have a S1000fd like yours and find it to be an excellent camera with good features like 15 pic continuous and panorama. It also has "super macro" which I suspect you used for this tiny weeny flower photograph. I should use mine more, but it is just a little bit too big to go in my pocket.
Well done. Looking forward to your week as a judge.

thanks very much Andrew, and you're right, it was on super macro. Although I now have a DSLR, I still use my S1000fd, as it is small enough to fit in the corner of my handbag! I also don't have a macro lens on the Canon, and really like the macros the S1000fd takes. I was really pleased to get this shot, as it was really windy, but the wind was coming from the same direction as the light, so I couldn't really block it, I had to wait for a lull! For scale, this flower is about the size of my pinkie nail, and I have pretty small hands!
