About me

Member Profile Information

My name is Laurie and I shoot primarily with Nikon DSLRs (D700 and D200) but I wanted something smaller, a toss in my bag and go camera to take on a personal trip to GA to greet my son when he returned to the United States at the end of his second and hopefully last tour of duty in Iraq. I found the HS10 to have most of the features I wanted in a compact all in one digital zoom camera.

When I went to register the HS10 the process took me to this site and since the registration process included membership in this community I decided why not. It is always fun to "meet" new people who share the passion for photography.

I don't do much post processing to my images with the exception of formal portraits and glamour shots. Usually just slight curves adjustments and perhaps White Balance adjustments suffice or the occasional black and white conversion.

I generally shoot RAW with my DSLR's and JPEGs with the HS10 and I use Lightroom 4 in post and occasionally photoshop. I had used CS2 up until recently when I upgraded my computer and with it my Photoshop to CS6 but in truth I have yet to use CS6 and I have had it for several months now. I am not sure why I bothered to get it.

You will not see any HDR images in my galleries or blog posts since they simply are not my thing. I have nothing against HDR it just isn't my thing.

I was primarily a stay at home, work from home mom. My 3 boys are all grown now. I manage a Youth Orchestra. My work with the Youth Orchestra is a labor of Love born out of the many years my own children were involved.

You can see more of my work on my main web site:

http://www.capturethisphotography.com

I have a large collection of images there, some slideshows and a thumbnail archive for quick views of most of my images.
